McKinley Jane and Grant Alan

They say patience is a virtue and I'm sure wishing it's a virtue I had more of lately! One of the kiddos has been doing a lot of testing lately, but I won't name her name. We had their NICU developmental follow up last week for their adjusted age of 18 months and the nurse was very happy with their progress. Both are advanced in fine motor, gross motor and social skills but they are in the "danger" zone for verbal skills. She said she's not concerned at this point so she's not going to refer them for speech therapy, but the standard is over 20 words and speaking 2-3 word sentences. They are speaking 15-20 words and only have one or two 2 word sentences they say. Our big excitement this month was that Grant had to be admitted to the hospital for about a day and a half due to respiratory distress. For Mother's Day I kicked off the weekend on Friday by going to a movie and loving every minute of my break! On Sunday we went to church in the morning, had lunch with Chad's parents and then after nap we headed to the pool. They loved the water last year so I figured they would love it again this year. McKinley will kick her legs and move her arms and even put her face in the water! Grant likes to just sit and splash around! Hope all you very deserving Mother's out there had a great day and were pampered like the queen you are!

I actually took a minute and counted because I thought there was NO WAY my babies were 20 months old!! Amazingly, they are though! Not a lot new here in the way of skills/updates. Cutest thing McKinley does right now is after prayer she will say "A-MEN!". I think part of it is relief that we're done :-) Grant is the man of a million faces which crack me up! He will make a funny face and if it gets a laugh will keep doing it over and over! For those of you that don't have facebook you missed out on a classic parenting moment with him. At the store Grant decided to have one of his "throw yourself down and bang head" fits. I decided to ignore it like usual and went to the next aisle, which of course made him stop. A lady saw the whole thing and laughing said "You're a great mom, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise!" Worlds best compliment in a situation like that!!
