Heard Around the Nuttle House!

Image
Wow! It's been a L-O-N-G time since I've done a Heard Around the Nuttle House Edition so here goes! -I told McKinley we were going to a restaurant we had a **coupon for** and she says "oh my goodness, we have to **poop on the floor**??" -Chad was telling the kids they should save their money for a rainy day to which McKinley responded "So you can buy an umbrella!"  Oh the concrete logic of 5 year olds -For some people your stomach growling means your hungry.  If Chad is your dad you learn that it's turd elves making turds. :) (I bet Granny loves this one LOL!) -The kids are at the age where bathroom humor is hilarious.  Anything that has to do with farting, burping, pooping, peeing...well you get the idea.  One night they were pushing out farts and cracking up.  It was all fun and games until Grant accidentally pooped his pants.  And the kicker....we had just sold our washing machine that day! -We were at the zoo and there were a who...

Potomac River

Image
When I picture a "river" I do not picture a body of water so wide that you can't see the other side so the Potomac River was pretty impressive to me!  I'm not a huge fan of swimming in lake/river water but the kids and Chad had a blast while I happily read a book on the beach :)

Exploring Washington, D.C

Since we didn't get to see many sights around D.C. when we went there for 4th of July we decided to take a quick trip up and visit the zoo since it's FREE and hang out in Georgetown.  We absolutely love Georgetown area and D.C. in general and could definitely see taking a travel assignment there in the future...during summertime of course :) They actually let the chimps climb across these ropes from one cage to another so they're right above your head! Crazy!

12 year anniversary!

I could have sworn I had posted this but it was still sitting in my drafts so this is a little late since we celebrated in June!  12 years..wow!  I can hardly believe it.  Chad planned the whole day and did a great job! Grandpa Ted and Grandma Julie kept the kids overnight while we went to Hays, KS and spent the night in a hotel and went to some of Chad's old hang outs from his college days.  Then the next day we went to a spa that is set out in the middle of the country and it was AMAZING!  I've been to a lot of 5 star spas and this was one of the nicest spas I've ever been to!  Who would have thought??  We had some hot tub time followed by a steam shower and then ended with a couples massage.  So wonderful!  That night we met up with his cousins and their wives for dinner which was so much fun! Fun Around Fredericksburg

Image
Fredericksburg is a pretty small town but is located within easy distance of Washington D.C, Virginia Beach and Richmond, VA so there are some neat day trips but there are limited activities within Fredericksburg, especially for us since we like to stay really active.  However, since it's summer and the weather is beautiful we are finding plenty to keep us busy all day!   A lot of our time is spent hiking and riding our bikes on the trails and then we swim every.single.day.  We also love going into historic Fredericksburg to walk around the neat shops and try new restaurants.  One of Chad and I's goals is to not eat any chain restaurants while we're on assignment since we like trying new restaurants so much.   One thing that surprised both Chad and I is how NICE everyone here is....like freakishly nice :)  Even on the bike paths complete strangers want to stop and talk.  Not at all what we envisioned when we pictured east coast but I guess we'...
