May 2011 Recap

We had a busy month frantically trying to fit in all the outdoor activities we could before 120 degrees hit! Luckily it's been a really cool month so we've had lots of outdoor play. Grant: Dare I say it....he is POTTY TRAINED!!! Boy, he was a lot tougher than McKinley and we finally figured out that the reward system didn't work for him so we started taking away his favorite toys when he would have an accident and to get them back he had to potty in the toilet two times. This worked really well especially when we took away his beloved tricycle! He still wears pull ups for bedtime and naptime occasionally but during day he's been in undies for about 1 1/2 months doing well. His language increases everyday and he can hold his own in a conversation with McKinley now! He can imitate any word you try to get him to say and is speaking full sentences now. His favorite thing right now by far is his tricycle! Once they finally figured out how to work it they just took off and no...

The Haircutting Incident

So in my ever exploring of ways to try to save money I decided one evening I would attempt to cut Grant's hair. I decided to sit them on the computer chair together and turn on home movies (which always keeps them entertained for hours). I went to town on Grant's hair and it turned out okay. They were really quiet so I decided to check it out...quiet is never good with 2 year olds! As I was walking up the stairs I heard McKinley telling Grant "right here. sit right here." I thought they were playing on the computer which they know better than to do. I got to the top of the stairs and found Grant sitting nicely in the chair and McKinley weilding a pair of scissors saying "just sit still" and "you are doing so good". LUCKILY they were the childproof scissors so we didn't have a big disaster on...

Easter 2011

What a busy, busy Easter so lots of pictures to share! We were lucky enough to participate in 2 Easter egg hunts, dye easter eggs, make a bunny cake, participate in our community Easter event, have brunch with Grandpa Ted and Grandma Julie and MOST importantly attend church for Easter service! I can see how as the kids get older it will be imperative that we stress what the true meaning of Easter is, Jesus dying on the cross for our sins vs. easter eggs, baskets, candy, etc. They kept sticking their balloons in the fan and cracking up! Grandpa Ted and Grandma Julie "cracking" his eggs into the bowl to watch jelly beans come out our Easter hunt at home The new dress McKinley got in her Easter basket from Grandma and Grandpa N. Loving their Easter baskets from Grandma and Grandpa Climbing into obstacle course at our community event The petting zoo at our community celebration McKinley getting her flower painted on her arm Is this dress not stinking adorable?!?!
