April Recap

Image
April flew by! I feel like I was just writing an update! We had a rough couple of months with the babies behavior, but I feel like things might be turning around now (probably just jinxed myself) I guess they don't call them "Terrible Two's" for nothing! Grant: Loves to count everything right now and can count to 10 unassisted and 20 assisted. We are slowly learning all the letters of the alphabet and the sounds each letter makes and he knows about 75% of them. He is also learning to write the letters but that's definately still a work in progress. One thing I CANNOT teach this kid is COLORS!!! What kid doesn't know their colors?!?! I've wondered many times if he might be color blind but I think he's just messing with my head :-) Potty training remains a work in progress.....sigh. That's all I'll say about that. McKinley: Loves pointing out the letters on everything we pass by! She knows 100% of her alphabet and what each letters says and is le...

March Recap

Image
With the beautiful weather, we've done a lot of activities but I've been horrible about taking pics. March means Spring Training time in AZ so we hit 2 games with the kiddos. I love spring training b/c you can buy lawn seats ultra cheap and the kids have some running around space. My parents also came out for a quick visit to help out with the kids and stuff around the house since we've been so busy with work and Chad going to school. Chad's parents have also been helping out a lot by taking the kids overnight at their house each Wednesday so I can work and Chad can study. Having family nearby is a lifesaver! Grant: I believe it was last post that I put that Grant was nowhere near potty training and I guess he decided to prove me wrong! He didn't like that McKinley was getting to wear undies and he wasn't so we decided to try it and he did great. He, however, has decided in the last week to make it a power struggle and started peeing his underwear (just for me.....

Schnepf Farms

Image
We made a trip WAAY out east of the city to visit Schnepf Farms for their Peach Blossom Festival and it was well worth the trip! We got to go on a hay ride, train ride, play with many animals, eat some homemade fudge and even see a goat being born! That's right...we watched a goat being born and even got to play with a goat that was only 3 HOURS old! McKinley was devastated when we had to leave the baby goat. 3 hour old goat It was all fun and games until the donkey nipped him! And they liked the chickens until they bit them as well!

Our First Trip Without Kids!!

Image
Chad and I took our very first, long overdue trip without the kiddos! We took a very relaxing trip to Sedona where we also did some fun outdoor activities. Our favorite activity was the water to wine tour where they take you on a kayak down the Verde River and you end up at a winery. We were able to tour some very beautiful (and tasty!) wineries in the area. A HUGE thanks to Grandma Julie and Grandmpa Ted for keeping our sweet babies while we were gone....I don't think they even missed us! At our first winery Chad getting ready to kayak Me cruising down the river! Someone loved their wine tasting :-) Attempting the timer on the camera Heading out on day 2! In the hot tub at resort At the alien store in Sedona

February Recap

Image
After last month's post I realized that I never wrote about my big change...a new job! I'm now working a midshift (1pm-1am) at Scottsdale Shea Pediatric ER! I'm SOOO glad to be off nights and my body finally is getting back into a normal routine. 8 years of nights had finally caught up with me and I just wasn't doing well with it anymore. Midshift has been perfect because I'm able to spend time with the family in the morning and then head to work at naptime. It's been EXTREMELY busy with flu/RSV season but I love it! Huge change from working with adults! Grant: He is just about potty trained YAY!! After McKinley was potty trained he decided he didn't want a diaper anymore and kept taking it off so I decided to let him fly and see how he did and he's been great! He rarely has an accident at home, however he's a typical boy and once he gets to playing outside or somewhere fun and neat he doesn't like to stop and pee and typically needs som...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Image
The day started out with mailboxes full of treats from Mommy and Daddy! Then Grandpa Ted and Grandma Julie brought by even more treats! Yes, those are undies paired with swim shoes...don't be hatin' on his style! Their cute shirts from Pretties for God's Beloved on facebook

January Recap

For the first time in awhile we actually have some changes to report! Biggest change is that the babies (yes, I still call them babies and will for as long as I live!) are now in separate rooms!! After many weeks of them playing instead of sleeping for naptime we decided to just separate them and looking back I wish I would have done it sooner. They are sleeping so much better now. They still sleep from 7p-730 a.m. and take about a 2-3 hr nap each afternoon. They handled the transition beautifully and didn't have near as much trouble with it as I thought they would! I had more trouble than they did :-((( We started them in their first organized class of soccer, baseball and basketball and it's been challenging to say the least. Talk about feeling like a horrible mom. Everytime I leave class I feel like crying b/c my kids are always the ones running around not listening and throwing fits. Please pray it gets easier or they may never get to participate in classes again!...
